Classes Offered
At Puget Sound Flute, we offer private flute lessons, group lessons (upon request), KinderFlute classes, two flute choirs, and music for special events. As an instructor, I realize that each student has different playing abilities and goals, so every lesson is personalized for your child's needs.
Mini Musicians Level One
This is weekly program designed to be a positive, creative, and exploratory first introduction to music for 3-5 year olds. Classes will include singing, fingerplays, piano, rhythm, and movement. Classes are being held at the University Place Presbyterian Church Music and Arts Institute.
KinderFlute Northwest
KinderFlute is a teaching method designed for young flute students between the ages of 4 to 9 years old. Many children play violin or piano at an early age, and younger children are now able to begin playing the flute using instruments with curved head joints and keys specially designed for smaller hands. NEW! KinderFlute has added basic keyboard techniques to the class, so students learn both the flute and basic piano.
Weekly group classes are filled with learning games and fun activities. Students also receive weekly 1/2 hour private lessons. Classes are offered at the University Place Presbyterian Church School of Music and Arts.
Puget Sound Flute
With a private instructor, students learn the fundamentals of playing more quickly. A solid foundation is built, and the student can keep learning, playing, and succeeding. A private music instructor can also help keep you or your child motivated, discover new music, and set goals to focus on to maximize the opportunity for musical success and fun.
Students will be given numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, including our yearly Spring Recital, the Un-Recital, open-mic events at Music & Arts, and masterclasses with guest artists. Students will also be given the opportunity to try a variety of World Flutes.
Lessons are also available for beginning or returning Adult students.
Middle School Flute Ensemble
In this ensemble, students will be given the opportunity to try their hand at the alto and bass flutes, meet new friends, and play great music. The flute choir will also have a number of performance opportunities in the community and the Puyallup Fair.
This group is designed for students playing at an intermediate level (1-2 years experience recommended) or above.
This ensemble meets on Mondays at the Puyallup Music & Arts.
Puget Sound Flute Advanced Flute Choir
In this ensemble, students will be given the opportunity to try their hand at the alto and bass flutes, as well as participate in smaller flute ensembles. The flute choir will also have a number of performance opportunities in the community and the Puyallup Fair.
This group is designed for students playing at an intermediate - advanced students (2 years experience required) More advanced younger students may audition to join.
This ensemble meets on Thursdays at the University Place Presbyterian Church.
